Middle School

Trinity Christian Middle School reflects the school's concern for the children of this transitional age.  Because adolescence is a time in which children naturally explore their beliefs in order to internalize them, it is a great time in which to plant seeds of Truth that will grow throughout a child's life.  Through biblical integration, making scripture relevant to all studies, students gain a greater understanding of God themselves and the world.  Out of this awareness comes thankfulness which leads to lives lived in a just manner that glorifies the Lord, Jesus Christ.  All classes stress the skills needed for success in future years, including the heightening of intellectual curiosity, the development of analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, the exercise and refinement of imagination, and the development of both clear and creative expression.  These skills, combined with a strong faith rooted in scripture, enable a child to further develop to into an adult that is capable of engaging the world in a redemptive manner.  Teachers endeavor to foster greater academic and personal independence and excellence for each student.  The passage from lower school to upper school is gradual yet firm and is based upon the academic and social maturity of the students.

Middle school students need a structured and caring environment in which to make sense of their “new selves.” During the middle school years, children grow more independent and need special guidance and understanding in working with peers and adults. Developmentally, young adolescents:

  • are, as a group, widely diverse
  • are engaged in self-exploration and self-definition
  • are ready and eager to participate in their home, school, and church communities
  • need and want positive relationships with both peers and adults
  • continue to need structure and clearly set limits
  • need and desire increased levels of autonomy
  • may have a very high energy level or be lethargic
  • need opportunities to achieve competence and success

The entire program of Trinity’s middle school is designed to meet these needs. The expectations for students are high, both academically and personally. The faculty and administration work diligently to provide a challenging yet supportive environment, while, at the same time, offering various educational opportunities for their growth.
