Building Dedication Held on November 1, 2009

A dedication ceremony was held on Sunday, November 1, for the new gymnasium and performing arts building. Included in the program were remarks by two seniors, Chaney Mullins and Patrick Lynch, both of whom attended Trinity since first grade. Those in attendance included Sharon Bulova, Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, and John Cook, Braddock District Supervisor. The new building includes a gymnasium which seats over 900 spectators and a performing arts wing which includes instrumental and choral rehearsal rooms, practice rooms, and a stage.

The Phase II building provides a full-size gymnasium, performing arts facilities for choral and instrumental rehearsals and performances, additional classrooms to provide an enhanced curriculum, and room for more students to enjoy the experience of a Trinity education. With this new building, Trinity is poised to offer its students a broader range of educational opportunities to help them grow and develop into young men and women who are prepared to engage their generation from a strong biblical foundation that frames an understanding of culture renewed in Jesus Christ. The Apostle Peter says: “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have” with gentleness and respect.

"For knowledge without character is like a ship without a course, capable of anything, but driven toward nothing.  The focusing of our knowledge on those causes that are both right and moral in the eyes of God, the transforming of the knowledge of good into good intentions, the desire to see what we have learned to be good and righteous become reality, the outward expression of our ability to live the fullness of life as we have been created in the image of God – this is character...I would like to remind the graduates today that it is the pursuit of a godly character that will ultimately bring each of us success, not only earthly, but eternal success in effectively living as a witness to the glory of God, and the truth of the Gospel."
