Library/Media Center

JSTOR

To serve students in kindergarten through grade 12, Trinity Christian School offers a comprehensive library/media collection housed in two distinct centers on campus. The collection has been developed to supplement the curriculum across the learning spectrum, with varied formats of quality materials and information to meet the diverse needs of the school community. The collection also integrates the use of technology with the selection and use of age-appropriate research materials.

Lower School

A full-time librarian assists faculty and students in the use of the collection. An integrated technology laboratory with 25 computer stations and a full-time instructor provide grade-specific training in the use of technology and research skills.Students have a personal ID to access to the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) to search for and check out books. The collection includes nearly 13 books per student (kindergarten through grade 5), approximately half of which are fiction and half are non-fiction related to the curriculum. The center provides an inviting space for browsing, reading, and exploring the world of books.

Middle and Upper School

The collection offers hard-copy texts, electronic resources, a periodicals collection, and audio visual materials. Nearly 2,500 print titles are available for students to use in the center or to check out for use at home or in class. To continue the development and application of

research skills, 12 computer stations in the center provide access to the Internet, the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog), and online databases. One full-time librarian and one part-time assistant are available to assist students and teachers with research and the use of the materials. While the collection intentionally supports the Christian worldview, it contains a broad selection of titles meant to expose students to the variety of ideas they will encounter in college and in life.Trinity Christian School subscribes to JSTOR, an electronic journal storage project that archives and provides cover-to-cover, full-text access to complete runs of back issues of scholarly journal titles.
