Heart of a Gryphon

The recipients of this award embody the true spirit of perseverance, dedication, and a love for competition, all while faithfully representing Christ in every aspect of their athletic journey. These two student-athletes faced challenges with courage and determination, always striving for excellence and upholding the highest standards of sportsmanship. They compete not only with skill and strength but also with integrity, demonstrating what it means to honor Christ during competition. Their unwavering commitment to both their faith and their sport makes them shining examples of Trinity student-athletes.

The Heart of a Gryphon will be awarded to one male and one female athlete.

8^th Grade Student-Athlete of the Year

This award recognizes an exceptional 8th-grade varsity student-athlete who has demonstrated outstanding performance and character throughout the year. The recipient’s achievements include team awards, school records, all-conference or all-state selections, and contributions to district or state championships. In addition to athletic accomplishments, special consideration is given to qualities such as teamwork, leadership, and conduct, with an emphasis on how the student-athlete represents the values of the Trinity athletic program both on and off the field.

Teammate of the Year

Inspired by John 15:13, "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends," this award honors two Trinity student-athletes, who consistently exemplify the true spirit of teamwork. These recipients demonstrate unwavering dedication, commitment, and selflessness, often making personal sacrifices for the good of the team. They are constant encouragers, they lead by example, and they bring out the best in their teammates. These two athletes set aside individual goals to support team objectives, helping to guide the team toward success. Their contribution is invaluable, serving as a cornerstone of the team’s strength and unity.

The Teammate of the Year will be awarded to one male and one female athlete.

Newcomer of the Year

This award honors a first-year Trinity varsity athlete who has made a significant impact on their team, elevating its competitive level. The recipient has contributed to the team’s success through improved performance, whether by increasing win totals, earning individual recognition, leading in a key statistical category, or playing a crucial role in helping the team secure a championship. This athlete's presence has been a game-changer, demonstrating both skill and dedication from the moment they joined the program.

Assistant Coach of the Year

This award recognizes an assistant coach who goes above and beyond in supporting the varsity head coach and team. The recipient is dedicated, knowledgeable, and consistently steps in to fill any gaps, ensuring the team's success. Nominees for this award demonstrate a deep commitment to their sport and have a lasting positive influence on the student-athletes. Through their actions and attitude, the recipient embodies servant leadership, always prioritizing the growth and well-being of the team.

Coach of the Year

The Coach of the Year is a model of dedication and excellence, consistently demonstrating exceptional leadership in multiple areas. This coach’s commitment to Preparation ensures their team is always ready to perform, both in practice and during competition. Their organization shines through in their seamless collaboration with the Athletic Department, fellow coaches, parents, and the student-athletes, ensuring everything runs smoothly and professionally. Beyond their team, they actively Promote their sport within the student body and the broader community, working tirelessly to attract and develop future talent. Above all, this coach leads with Character, instilling values of honesty, integrity, humility, and unity in their student-athletes, fostering both athletic growth and personal development.

Three-Sport Athlete of the Year

This award honors two student-athletes who have made a significant impact across multiple Trinity varsity teams, demonstrating exceptional commitment and dedication throughout the year. These recipients don’t just participate—they are fully invested in each season and consistently go above and beyond. Additional consideration is given to those who started for multiple teams, earned individual recognition, led in key statistical categories, and/or contributed to a championship-winning team. The athletes’ versatility, work ethic, and leadership across multiple sports make them a standout example of what it means to be a Three-Sport Athlete.

The Three-Sport Athlete of the Year will be awarded to one male and one female athlete.

Blue Crew Fan of the Year

This award recognizes a student-athlete who, despite the demands of their own sports commitments, went above and beyond to support their peers by attending Trinity Athletic events and cheering from the sidelines. The recipient demonstrates a true spirit of camaraderie by actively fostering a supportive and enthusiastic atmosphere for all Trinity athletes. Their dedication to cheering on their fellow Gryphons exemplifies what it means to be a team player, both on and off the field. 

Manager of the Year Award

This award honors a student who has shown exceptional dedication and support as a team manager. The recipient goes above and beyond in organizing and assisting with team logistics, ensuring practices and games run smoothly. They are a vital part of the team’s success, consistently demonstrating reliability, initiative, and a positive attitude. Their hard work and commitment to supporting the athletes and coaching staff make them an invaluable asset to the team. The recipients for this award have been nominated by Varsity Coaches.

Athlete of the Year

This award honors two student-athletes, who have had an outstanding year, setting a high standard for both athletic performance and personal character. The recipients have demonstrated excellence in their sport, earning significant achievements such as team accolades, school records, all-conference or all-state honors, and conference or state championships. Beyond their athletic accomplishments, the student-athletes serve as role models for their peers, embodying the values of leadership, sportsmanship, and integrity. Recommendations from head coaches are also a key factor in selecting the recipient of this award.

The Athlete of the Year will be awarded to one male and one female athlete.

Senior Career Athlete

The Senior Career Athlete award honors two seniors, who have demonstrated exceptional athletic achievement throughout their career at Trinity. It recognizes not only their performance on the field but also their dedication and commitment to excellence over the years. Nominees for this award are selected by the Trinity Varsity Head Coaches and are evaluated based on several key factors, including consistent excellence in athletics, all-conference and all-state honors, leadership as a team captain, individual and team championships, and a strong embodiment of Christian character, alongside a commitment to academic excellence.

The Senior Career Athlete will be awarded to one male and one female athlete.

​Best Trinity Postseason Performance

This award honors a team who had the best postseason performance in the 2024-2025 academic school year in the VCAC tournament and/or the VISAA State tournament.
