A letter from former Head of School Dr. Vanderpoel

The joy of spring this year includes the sights and sounds of students, young and old, playing and competing on our new artificial turf fields which are now in use every hour of the day whether for recess, P.E., or Athletics. A daily cascade of thanks is due to all the members of the TCS community who have given so generously to make these splendid fields possible.

Along with all her natural bounty, spring has also brought an unexpected gift! Several TCS families have joined together and pledged a Million Dollar Match challenge gift to our Capital Campaign. If we can match this $1,000,000 in new gifts and pledges by May 15, we will reach our Phase 1 campaign goal of 5.2 million dollars and be able to purchase the 29 acres on Shirley Gate Road this summer! By exercising our purchase option this May, TCS will be able to secure a lower purchase price and save multiple lease payments totaling almost $200,000. Early payments on existing and new pledges could potentially save us an additional $200,000 in finance costs.

We urgently need your help over the next 40 days to secure this property and realize savings of almost $400,000. If each of our 435 families gives $2,500, we can easily meet this matching gift challenge. Some of us must give more to help those who can give less. Together, with each of us giving as we are able, we can provide land where future generations of Trinity students can develop and flourish. It will enable us to better compete in an increasingly competitive market, broaden the scope of our offerings, and eventually build additional classrooms, fine arts auditorium, and athletic fields for baseball, track, and tennis.

The Lord has providentially placed us in the shadow of our nation’s capital and tasked us with feeding his lambs with his Word. He calls us to raise a generation of believers who will be valiant for truth, love mercy, and do justice. We firmly believe that the acquisition of the Shirley Gate Road property will place us in a strategic position to continue our pursuit of excellence for mind and heart. It will enable us to expand and grow our program in the arts, athletics, and core disciplines well into the future. I ask you to prayerfully consider giving a gift or pledge to help match this very generous challenge gift over the next 40 days so that we can move forward with the purchase of 29 acres to be used for the glory of God through the education of his children.

Gratefully,

David Vanderpoel, Ph.D.
